It's important that people keep testing on lateral flows weekly, this is to help control the spread of Covid-19, especially with the new variant, Omicron. You can order a box of 7 free lateral flows to your house via the government website.
We have been working hard supporting all 9 of our practices to administer the first, second, third and booster doses of the Covid-19 vaccination.
We started vaccinating out of Bloomsbury Surgery in Decemeber 2020 and have continued this right through to Janaury 2022.
Everyone over the age of 12 can now get their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and we have been working with our local communities to get the message out and get as many people vaccinated and protected as possible. We have now administered roughly 50,000 vaccinations out of our hub.
During the Covid-19 booster vaccine roll out, we have been coadministering flu vaccines alongside this. There are worries that there may be a higher level of flu infections this year, because of social distancing and other measures that were put in place to prevent Covid-19 last year, the flu levels were very low. This may mean that people will have a lower level of immunity against flu this winter. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) have reviewed the evidence around receiving both vaccinations at the same time, and have concluded that this is safe.
